the v1 is the original switch. the battery is worse and it is unpached against softmodding. you can tell you have it by the serial number and the box it came in. the v2 is identical to the v1, with a better battery. it is protected against softmodding. to most people, it is identical to the v1.

If you have a first GEN switch, I actually have an unused SX core chip and an unused V1 cable for it I’m looking to sell. P.m. me if interested. Yeah you'll need to find SX core or SX lite for patched switch/Lite. Or just sell your current one and buy the V1 unpatched switch. If you're lucky you can find one under $200.
Because i've built a switchdock v1 into a gamecube and i have no problems using it with a switch v1. But when i put a v2 in there, there is no screen coming. The TV is getting a signal, but no screen is showing except i change resolution to the lowest. And even if i change that, its sometimes dosnt work (tested with 2 v1 and 2 v2 Switches).
Instead, it’s simply called Switch (OLED model) and here’s how it compares with the regular edition in price, specs and more. While this doesn’t have the ‘Pro’ branding we all expected, the new OLED Switch comes with a number of upgrades over the original that might make you want to upgrade. It will launch on 8 October along with GJi2cC. 246 99 157 164 25 304 289 143 351
