The USMC buys the AH-1 Cobra instead of the AH-64 Apache. The AH-1 Cobra is a two-blade rotor, single-engine attack helicopter manufactured by Bell Helicopter. It was developed using the engine, transmission and rotor system of the Bell UH-1 Iroquois. A member of the prolific Huey family, the AH-1 is also referred to as the HueyCobra or Snake.
When I was stationed at Camp Eagle in A Korea, (AH-64 post with some Huey's and Blackhawks), we had a marine squadron of super Huey's and super cobras come in for some training. Talk about some Sh*t talking between all us!!!๐ All in good fun though. I still prefer the AH-64 though. I was an armament and electrical systems tech.
